Why Raising X

There are many parents out there who face the same challenges we did. The lack of accessible information, old information, and finding advice that aligns with modern parenting. We wanted to share the good sources we found, the things that worked for us, our struggles, and personal insight learned daily from raising Xavier.

We don’t claim to be child psychologist, developmental specialist, or product engineers, though we have read a lot of their work. We do believe however, that even though we have prolific lives planned, raising Xavier is the most important thing we will do. And, because of that we know there are many things we have learned and learn every day that will be helpful for other parents who, like us, strive to be better.

What raising X covers

Raising X really is for parents who are continually looking to learn new things. Because without learning anything new it is hard to get better at what you are doing. We have a couple good friends who are professional athletes. I say this because I think there is really something to learn from how they approach what they ‘do’. There is a constant drive to improve that can be seen in everything they do. We think success in parenting and personal development comes in the same way they approach their sport – a determined and focused effort. It doesn’t just happen.

In that way, Raising X is a reflection of the work we have done to learn more, grow as individuals, and parents. We will give a lot of personal insight because we found them extremely helpful in our search. But more than just passing on tips, we want to give a more personal and deeper look at some of the struggles we faced in making choices. We want to share this because we think we learned the most from those struggles and also where other parents may see something they had not considered. We will tie most of our insights and experiences to the good resources and information that we have found and continue to look for. Finally, there will be posts focusing on personal development and less about parenting. This is here because we believe strongly that the best parenting comes through role modeling. So the more we can work on us the better examples we can set.

We will cover a range of topics from child development to relationships to travel to product reviews. The topics will be byproducts of our daily experiences, research, and life with Xavier. While we will provide links to articles and products, we are affiliation free. We intend to stay that way as we want the liberty to praise or knock ideas and products that we come across.

Who this site is for

We built raising X for parents and prospective parents looking to become better parents. It is for parents who take raising their kids seriously and are looking for better ways to do that. We recognize that this site will not be for everyone. We will review a lot of information and much of it from the academic arena and will write for an educated audience. We don’t want to take out the hard stuff just to get to a top 10 list. We also recognize that our views as socially conscious individuals and parents are not shared by every person or parent. But, we will try to make these obvious so you can decide for yourself. For those who are like us; welcome and we hope you come back frequently. For those who find they disagree, thanks for visiting and we hope you do keep striving to be a better person and parent.
